This activity is held every week when the weather is fine. Everyone usually gathers around 10:15 a.m., and we begin a short service at 10:30 a.m. Afterwards, participants help tidy up the grounds of Three Wheels. Pure La…
Pure Land Class at the Buddhist Society
9 October 2025 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
The next Pure Land class will take place on Thursday, 9th October 2025, at 18:30.
Three Wheels would like you to read Great Living in advance, and you to raise some questions of you.
- Assigned Reading:
The section to be read in preparation for the meeting will be Chapter 7 of Great Living. (If you would like to purchase a copy of Great Living, please let us know.)
- Submitting Questions:
If you wish to participate, please read the assigned section and submit any questions via email by 4th October. Along with your question, kindly explain your reasoning or the context behind it.
- Discussion Preparation:
We, the priests of Three Wheels, will review your questions and reasoning beforehand. During the meeting, we will share our thoughts and responses, fostering a deeper dialogue.
We believe this approach will encourage meaningful conversations and enhance the learning experience for all participants. Additionally, it will serve as valuable training for myself and the young priests who began their practice at Three Wheels this year.
We eagerly look forward to receiving your insightful questions, which will contribute to the enrichment of all attendees, including all priests of Three Wheels.
Kind regards,

The 178…
The 178th London Eza
26 October 2025 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
As the days pass, we increasingly feel the arrival of autumn, and I trust this letter finds you in good health.
Every year, the October London Eza is held as the Hō-on-ko, the most important ceremony for Shin Buddhist followers. Hō-on-ko is the central annual observance in which we gratefully remember what Shinran Shonin, the Founder of Shin Buddhism, has done for us. In expressing our deep gratitude for his benevolence, we recite the Name, Namu Amida Butsu.
This year, the Hō-on-ko will be held on Sunday, 26 October 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Three Wheels Temple. Prof. Masahiro SHIMODA is expected to give a talk via Zoom following the service.
Together, let us reaffirm the meaning of the Nenbutsu that Shinran Shonin and many predecessors have passed down to us for over 800 years, and let each of us share our joy and gratitude through pronouncing the Name, Namu Amida Butsu.
I warmly welcome your participation in this important Dharma gathering.
Palms together,
Rev. Kenshin ISHII
