The Head Priest said, “It is not that I trust in the Original Prayer but that the Buddha trusts in me through his Original Prayer.”
私が本願を信ずるのではない。佛さまから信じられているのが本願。 (住職の言)

The Head Priest said, “Don’t try to be a teacher, but become a student in every way. Then you can accomplish your job as a teacher.”
先生になるのではない。徹底して生徒になること。そうすれば先生の仕事もつとまるのです。 (住職の言)

The Head Priest said, “Despite the fact that we do not know ourselves, we try to judge others and make them act as we would like. We are dreadfully mistaken in this attitude. Awakened to how despicable we are, we bow in reverence before the Buddha.”
自分自身のこともよく分かっていないのに、人を判断し、相手を動かそうとする転倒者。この恐ろしさに思い至って、佛さまに頭を下げます。 (住職の言)

The Head Priest said, “The Buddha appears in the relationships between ordinary beings.”
佛様は凡夫と凡夫との間から生まれる。 (住職の言)

The Head Priest said, “Faith is the change that comes about when we awaken from ‘the wish to know more’ to ‘the deepest gratitude of always saying thank you’.”
「わかりたい」ではなく、「有り難うございます」と転ずることがご信心ですね。 (住職の言)

The Head Priest said, “When I feel myself to be a fake, I am saved by the nembutsu welling up from within.”
偽物であることを実感させて頂く。ふと出るお念佛に救われる。 (住職の言)

The Head Priest said, “Although we say we should ‘listen to the Dharma by attaining no-mind’, the act of ‘listening’ is in itself ‘no-mind’.”
「無心になって聞く」というが、「聞くこと」自体が本来無心なのです。 (住職の言)

The Head Priest said, “You don’t have to worry alone. Your Dharma friends help you with deep sympathy for your problems. This is your nembutsu Samgha.”
自分一人で思い悩むのではなく、お同行が一つになって悩んで下さるところ、それがお念佛のサンガです。 (住職の言)

A classical music teacher said, “When each person’s responsibility is united into oneness, it creates music.”
一人一人の責任が一つになって、音楽を創り上げるのです。 (楽師の先生の言)

A person whose father had just died said, “My father’s life was one of great contentment, his karma having shone forth boundlessly.”
父の一生は、自分の罪業が限りなく輝く、大満足の生涯でした。 (ある親族の言)
