This is Shakyamuni Buddha’s last teaching from The Dirghama Sutra: “Make yourself be a light! Rely on yourself, not on anyone else! Make the truth (Dharma) be a light! Rely on the Dharma, not on anything else!”
This means that what we should rely on is the illumined ‘self’, namely ‘no self’, and the illumined ‘Dharma’, namely ‘the Dharma that has no self’, or in other words the Dharma that has no intrinsic identity.

釈尊の遺言として『長阿含経』には、「自らを灯明とし、自らをたよりとして、他人をたよりとせず、真理(法)を灯明とし、真理をよりどころとして、他のものをよりどころとせず」とある。
本来、よりどころとすべきものは照破された「自己」即ち「無我」、照破された「法」即ち「法無我」のことであるということである。
