As long as we imagine we are able to cure our sickness simply by taking medicine, it will be impossible for us to understand the teaching of the Pure Land.
For such an idea is based on the illusion that our sickness is curable. But even if our sickness can be temporarily cured, it is quite certain that it will eventually lead to our death. Of this there can be no doubt.
The teaching of the Pure Land is a light that enables us to overcome all attachments, including even our attachment to the Dharma (truth). The light appears before me in the form of all Buddhas and I pronounce the nembutsu.
